Metamorphosis

I woke one morning from unsettling dreams to find myself changed in my bed into a Celebi. I groggily shifted to my side and stared out the window. Birds twittered and wove their nests amongst the mottled green foliage of the trees. My blanket seemed much bigger...and how curious that where my legs where supposed to be, there was no cloth covered bump. Upon lifting the blanket I discovered that my legs where indeed gone, replaced with...stubs?
"Cool Dream" I murmured. Okay now it was time to get up! Whoa! The floor sure seemed a long way down, now to just...what happened next seemed incomprehensible at the time but was occuring all the same. I was flying. Not really flying, just a sort of levitation that left my stomach all aflutter. In a trance-like state I floated in front of a mirror to glimpse at what i had become. I had inhabited a strange body. I was myself but in a different form. My skin was pale green with sparse sections of viridian like an elegant lotus.When i twirled around my arm-like appendages strayed behind me like small limp wings. Transparent dragonfly wings, delicate and insect-like twittered between my shoulder blades. The head was a teardrop shape with two slender stalks jutting outward. But the most magnificent of all was what was imbedded in the face, beady eyes the color of a tropical ocean, a vibrant turquoise hue framed by two thick black rings.
"Cere-Bi" I shouted gleefully before ecstatically jetting around the room. "Hmm now what to do, what to do...oh my gawd! There's school today!" I realized while trying to figure out how I would deal with this peculiar predicament. Unable to put on any clothes and unwilling to fumble through my siblings current attire, I flew outside and hid behind the bus stop hoping the students wouldn't notice. Then as the bus was leaving I latched onto the roof to hitch a ride to school because I had no idea how to get there on my own. It was exhilarating to whiz my the on-going traffic with my head stalk flailing in the wind. Now it was simply a matter of time before the bus arrived in the school parking lot, but i still had no idea how i was supposed to socialize in my current state. My voice was soft and cheerful as I exclaimed "Cere-Bi", and uttered my first human word..."School".
I had finally arrived so I snuck inside the building, stole inside the cafeteria and hid under a cardboard box so I could work my way over to my friends. Surely if anyone could sympathize with my plight it would be them. The box had holes punched in it for handles so it was quite easy to peek through and examine my surroundings. Cliques of students gathered in the halls so I stuck to the corners and managed to worm my way to the corridor where my friends resided. Marisa, Nicole, Monica and Envia where chatting wile G, Cimex and Becky stored things in their lockers but of course came the moment i was waiting for. Sam had just walked in and G hurriedly ushered her to the stairs in the corner so they could converse about the events of the previous day. "Hehe" I chimed as they approached. As soon as G started to say "Omg and then they" I popped out with a cheerful "Hey Gies!!!" that caused Sam to stare and G to careen Haphazardly to the floor. I couldn't help but suppress a grin when he did that because it was hysterical to him spazz. They recognized what I was but not who I was, even though they where quite familiar with what I had said. Sam of course being her crazy self proceeded to hug me so tight that a shriek escaped my mouth with a loud "Gheaa". She knew it was me at once for she had done this before and exclaimed "Ally!" while i desperately attempted to gasp for air. Suddenly my eyes took on a firefly glow and a telekinetic shield formed around my body protecting my small frame from further abuse. Amused by my new found power I flitted around and told my friends about what had happened and they stared in awe. Obviously they felt as if they where dreaming as well. They proceeded to barrage me with questions.
"How did this happen? What does it feel like? That's so awesome!" But much too soon the bell rang and we had to go our separate ways. Since I obviously couldn't go to class unless I was willing to start a commotion, I went off in search of a way to pass the time. So I decided to venture outside to observe nature and its beauty even though pollution had diluted its grandeur. When i stroked the ground wine like tendrils wormed their way out of the ground and wilting flowers bloomed. I thought of my friends and what they where doing and if I would ever be able to revert to my human form and live normally after this abrupt transformation. Maybe, by traveling in the past, I could go back to when i was normal and reverse the switch. I knew it was a power that I now possessed. Closing my eyes I willed myself to channel the strange energies coursing through my body. The environment around me glowed with an eerie pale green hue and the trees around me where illuminated with a rejuvenating light. Time stopped around me and then I was thrust into the flow. I was one with the past, the future and all that was to come. I was free to witness the complexities of life, the joy, anger, passion, greed, wrath, kindness and conflict that created our being in this ugly yet beautiful world. Thus I was thrust through the time stream and found myself back where it all started. Even though I felt lightheaded I woke up and saw that I was human once more. I was in my bed like the days events had never happened and it had all been a dream. Maybe it was...or was it?
